The Governor in Council, or the Minister on the request of the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness or any other Minister, may issue directions authorizing the Canadian Forces to provide assistance in respect of any law enforcement matter if the Governor in Council or the Minister, as the case may be, considers that- The Governor in Council may authorize the Canadian Forces to provide assistance, on such terms and conditions as the Governor in Council considers appropriate, if the Governor in Council is satisfied that:
(a)the request for assistance is made by a province or municipality; (b)the assistance requested is necessary to deal with an emergency; (c)the emergency is of such proportions or nature that it cannot be effectively dealt with except with the assistance of the Canadian Forces; and (d)the provision of such assistance is in the national interest.
- The Governor in Council may authorize the Canadian Forces to provide assistance, on such terms and conditions as the Governor in Council considers appropriate, if the Governor in Council is satisfied that:
- Deploy the military domestically “for the greater good“.
