Aulbrook was appointed to the Landlord Tenant Board in 2019, and his appointment was criticized by opposition parties for being a reward for his loyalty to Tibollo. Aulbrook had no experience in landlord-tenant law, and his appointment was seen as a political favour. The NDP called for an investigation into the appointment, but it never happened.
Aulbrook resigned from the Landlord Tenant Board in 2020 after it was revealed that he had been involved in a Ponzi scheme with Tibollo. He has since been charged with fraud and money laundering related to the scheme.
